Greater Birmingham Area
The Greater Birmingham area encompasses many suburban communities and smaller towns in Jefferson, Blount, Chilton, Shelby, St. Clair and Walker counties.
Many people live in outlying suburbs and drive to work. Due to the suburban growth in the region, the distances that people commute to work in the Birmingham area are among the longest in the nation and roads have become increasingly congested, according to a report by the Greater Birmingham Regional Planning Commission.
The stretch of Interstate 20/59 between Arkadelphia Road (U.S. Route 78) and Messer Airport Highway carries the highest volume of traffic through downtown Birmingham.
Serious accidents are common on these highways, particularly when drivers disregard changing road and traffic conditions. When a driver causes a serious accident resulting in injuries to others, the accident victims may be entitled to hold the at-fault driver accountable and seek compensation for medical bills, lost income and other damages sustained as a result of the injuries.
A knowledgeable Birmingham accident lawyer can discuss your legal options if you have been harmed and guide you through the legal process.
